Sewing

Sewed a couple quilted mug rugs using the leftover onigiri hamster fabric from my project pouch. Sometimes a quick little project is just what you need as a palette cleanser. This was my first time self-binding a make. I found this short and sweet YouTube video to make sure I had my approach right with the mitered corners; I actually have no idea what the audio sounds like—I watched it muted and that was clear enough!

Two 6x9” quilted mug rugs, with stitch lines in a diamond pattern. The cream fabric features hamsters shaped like onigiri and holding items that are usually paired with the rice balls, such as shiso leaves, seaweed, and octopus
A small, indigo-colored Japanese tea mug on one of the mug rugs. It has no handle, and the glaze has a subtle dappled pattern.

Knitting

I’m now on the foot of my second sock for Summer Lee’s Cuff Club. This design is from August in the first year…why yes, it does take me ~3 months to knit a sock. But! This is my second pair of socks and it’s probably going twice as fast as the first pair I knit. Picking up gusset stitches no longer terrifies me, huzzah! 🎉

A sock still on a pair or circular knitting needles, being knitted from the cuff down. There’s a flower motif around the cuff in a deep teal color, and the body of the sock is in a variegated yarn of pinks, creams, yellows, and springy greens.

Drawing & painting

Didn’t get much sketchbook time this month. I did get to draw a little bit with my six-year-old niece while my family was visiting, aww.
