in sewing

In July I started getting the itch to sew clothes again. I’d realized it had been a year since my last garment! To ease back into it, I decided to start with the most straightforward garment pattern in my collection: the Topstitch Essential Shirt.

Me standing in front of a rose bush heavy with bright pink blossoms. I'm wearing a boxy short-sleeved shirt, sewn in white linen with a dark grey window-pane pattern. The pattern is on the larger side, vs very fine details.

I sewed up this Essential Shirt in a window-pane linen fabric I bought from Joann forever ago (RIP).

I finished it in July and decided to wear it to Flock Fiber Festival! I don’t have any knitted garments (yet) but wanted to wear a me-made regardless. This top was perfect for the fest, because it kept me nice and cool.

My head is down as I'm adjusting the shirt, and you can see that my cobalt blue baseball cap says I'd rather be knitting

My hat is from Mabel & Jess, picked up at Flock this year!
