Earlier this month I finished the square, coral Talens Art Creation sketchbook I’d been working on since…December 2023. 😱
Alas, I don’t know who made this sticker. My brother bought it for me at a thrift shop.
There are a few reasons why it took me this long:
- Talens Art Creation sketchbooks have a bajillion pages in them
- I had another sketchbook going in parallel
- As well as several other creative hobbies
I thought I’d do a quick sketchbook dump of never before seen spreads (AKA pages I haven’t posted to the blog yet).
Movie doodles
Doodled while watching Marty Supreme, a much more intense film than the doodles would suggest
Project Hail Mary scribbles, with black Posca marker over fountain pen ink washes
Scribble Brigades
A few pages from following along with Sophie McPike’s Scribble Brigade workshops (10/10 would recommend!)
From a workshop on abstracting flowers
An abandoned lot, three ways
Drew a weed-choked lot in three different media: (pan-dried) gouache, then Posca acrylic markers, then Neocolor IIs. So interesting to see how the vibe changes based on how my chosen media influences decision- and mark-making.
The pops of vermilion in the middle of the lot are lilies from days gone by!
On to the next one
Funnily enough, the Stillman & Birn ~A6 Alpha sketchbook I started in March is already 40% full, so I imagine I may fill that one this year!
