Since the first half of the year has already flown by (how?!), I thought it would be fun to check in on the making goals I set in January. The headline: so far, plenty of sketchbooking and sewing.

Drawing & painting

My hand holding up a small, square sketchbook with a drawing of a 1931 popcorn truck on it; the reference vehicle is in the background of the shot. This vintage truck is red, with yellow and white wheels, and has a window in the back showing a popcorn machine. Think of an ice cream truck, but for selling popcorn.
  • ✅ Participate in another Urban Sketchers outing: drew at the Greenwood Car Show
  • ✅ Establish a regular sketchbook practice
  • ✅ Give watercolor an honest shot: I still like gouache better 🤷‍♀️

Knitting

Not much knitting yet this year, thanks to healing my wrist postpartum.

  • ✅ Finish the “My Baker’s Hat”
  • 📋 Knit another pair of socks
  • 📋 Attempt a sleeveless garment: up next!
  • 📋 Knit more colorwork

Sewing

  • ✅ Make cheerful and functional things for my family and our home
  • ❓ (Probably won’t) participate in my Modern Quilt Guild’s Block of the Month quilt
  • ✅ Sew a garment for myself: just made another Topstitch ATL Essential Shirt

Weaving

📋 I haven’t really woven anything the past couple years, so it might be nice to dip back into: nothing here yet.

Misc

My hand holding an egg-shaped amigurumi plushie of the Sanrio character Pochacco. He is a white dog with black ears and a blue shirt. In the background is a small rhododendron bush in full pink bloom.
  • 👷‍♀️ Try crochet with the Sanrio x Woobles kits I bought: I made Pochacco and will work on Pompompurin 🍮
  • 📋 Make a small trinket with clay

Feeling pleased with how many goals I’ve knocked out so far, and motivated to keep going in the back half of this year!
